Visit to Spain
February 9-15
From February 9-15, 10 pupils of Pelēči Primary school (Amanda, Liene, Lasma, Valentina, Olita, Marcus, Oscar, Mairis, Rolands, Raivis) and 2 teachers (Sandra Stendere Steinberga and Jolanta Macenko) were on a study visit of Erasmus + project "Healthier Breakfast, Wiser Minds" in Spain.
Throughout the week called Let’s be Reporters students improved their knowledge in several areas. We worked on creating a blog as well as making and posting videos on www.youtube.com channel (feel free to check it out and subscribe, the channel name is "brewise"). Pupils also organized a debate on a variety of cultural, religious, socio-economic eating habits. The second project magazine was created, which will be introduced to other pupils, families and teachers.
Along with active work, we also learned about the culture, traditions, famous landmarks. We were curious to see Sagrada Familia Church accompanied by an amazing guide. The church is still under construction, but it is planned to complete it in 2026 following a project as planned by world-famous architect and artist Gaudi.
In different cooking workshops we got to know the traditional Catalan cuisine. We learned how to cook fish dishes, lasagna, which is not really Spanish food, desserts, we made our own healthy breakfast dishes, which we presented afterwards and of course we tasted al the dishes.
With our presence we honored the representatives of Granoller City Council in the Town Hall, enjoyed medieval breath of Girona and the hurrying rhythms of Barcelona.
Over the weeks, the students not only expanded their horizons but also gained new friends, improved foreign language skills in English and Spanish.
We are really thankful for the hospitality of the hosting school in Spain. We thank the hosting families and our coordinator Debora. Thank you for the sunny visit!
You can actively follow the Erasmus + project inside and outside Peleci Elementary School at https://erasmuslatvia.weebly.com/ and follow the brewise account on instagram, which publishes the latest activities in all 5 project countries (Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Poland and Latvia) ).
The project is funded with financial support from the European Union Erasmus + Program.
