Let’s eat a rainbow together The fourth Healthy breakfast was based on colours. It’s believed that consuming a rainbow of fruits and vegetables help you to get enough of the different nutrients you need for good health. Therefore, we decided to make “Crisps in colours”. The basic vegetables were the beetroot (for red), carrot (for orange), potatoes (for yellow), and cucumbers for green and purple potatoes (for purple colour). We peeled the vegetables (except cucumbers), sliced all the vegetables and put them (except cucumbers) in the oven to take out the ready crisps in 15 minutes. We arranged all the vegetables on the serving plates with the fresh cucumbers in the middles. Additionally we made six kinds of dips to be served along the crisps. For the dessert, we had “Zephyrs on rainbow”. For that, we took the fruits in the rainbow colours – pomegranates, mandarins, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries and the purple grapes. We added zephyrs and Greek yogurt. First, we put everything in layers to take the dish on photo and after that, we mixed everything up. For a drink, we chose “Homemade Orange Soda”. It was made squeezing the juice out of the oranges, adding the preferable amount of sugar or honey (we made to kinds of them), carbonated water and ice cubes. As in making the healthy breakfast also, the students from the neighbour school were involved, we decided to make extra dishes. Assorted fruits and vegetables were arranged on the bamboo sticks. Then we make also a smoothie “Crazy Carrot” from carrots, oranges, pineapple, banana, ginger and lime. In the end, the tasting turned out a nice feast altogether trying the healthy dishes, enjoying the explosion of colours and having a great time together with the students of the neighbour schools.

After the study visit to Croatia a workshop was for pre-schoolers in Pelēči Primary School (in Latvia) was organised. The 9th graders had prepared several activities to do to enhance the knowledge about human body. The human organs were introduced to the kids. They had to participate in a discussion about the functions of the human organs. Afterwards the little kids had to guess the fruits and vegetables to be eaten to keep the organs healthy. They did it quite well as the 9th graders admitted. The last activity was the memo game, what brought a lot of fun. It was the very last teaching lesson for our 9th graders, because after passing the exams, they are leaving the school. We hope that thanks to the workshop our 9th graders will stay in memory of our little pre-schoolers. During the study visit in Spain it was decided to organize workshops of the same kind as in students did in Poland. The students had to teach other kids how to measure the amount of sugar in the soft drinks, how to make a healthy snacks etc. Here you can see a workshop from Spain:

All the teams had a homework to do - it was a healthy snack to be made and the presentation about how to make it. The students admitted the the tasty part was the best one. For our students this was a marvelous chance to practice English, because all the activities were organized in English. This practice helped the students to feel more confident during the visit to Poland. All the participants and the students were excited and ready to participate in the workshops of this kind.
